A public virtual hearing on the masterplan for the Livoq Lake and the expected impact of this project on the tourism development in the region of Gjjilan/Gnjilane was held on 8 December 2020.

 The masterplan contributes towards the goal of the Municipality to use resources for attracting more tourists and visitors, and by extension, to the sustainable economic development in the area. The Mayor of Gjilan/Gnjilane Lutfi Haziri emphasized that the masterplan indicates the feasibility of the project that will create a new tourism destination and attract tourism-related investment in the area.

 The purpose of the masterplan public presentation was to share information, elicit opinions, suggestions, and feedback in order to ensure high final quality of the project that is crucial for the development of tourism in this municipality. The Municipality is also seeking to create opportunities for joint investment with the private sector for the private elements of the project, while the public sector shall take over investment in public infrastructure.

 The masterplan is prepared by the French Company GEODE, with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation through the Promoting Private Sector Employment Project.
