A ceremony organized at the Rec Plast company premises on 8 September 2017 launched the new waste plastic recycling line that will create at least 40 new full-time jobs in the following two years, and help reduce the environmental burden in the area of Pejë/Peć, Kosovo’s most attractive tourism destination.
Rec Plast collects plastic waste, which is processed into granulates and other products. The company collaborates with a broad network of collectors and other businesses that require its services or products. According to the company owner, Fazqet Krasniqi, the expansion happened at the right time.
“Our concept is to properly manage collection and processing of recyclable plastic waste. In addition to new jobs this investment introduces a new way of waste collection through containers we have placed around the city and some touristic areas,” says Krasniqi.
Krasniqi was joined by the Mayor of Pejë/Peć and the PPSE Manager Argjentina Grazhdani for the ribbon cutting of the new line.
The specially-made collection containers allow for sorting of waste at the point of origin and plays a role in increasing awareness about environmental protection and giving life to waste through recycling.
This project was supported by the Municipality of Pejë/Peć and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation through Promoting Private Sector Employment that is implemented by Swisscontact.
