Mapping the Capital of Kosovo as A Tourism Destination

On 21 May 2018, a one-day workshop on destination analysis brought together a group of tourism actors from Prishtina operating in diverse areas – from tour operators and guides to restaurant owners and Airbnb hosts.

The workshop was facilitated by Swisscontact tourism expert Veronika Schanderl. The aim was to generate cohesive thinking and action among private and public actors in mapping Prishtina as a tourism destination. The workshop is part of the activities that have been put in motion with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Swisscontact and the Municipality of Prishtina to develop the tourism sector in the country’s capital.

“Prishtina is being visited by over 200,000 tourists a year, with a 30% increase of the number of visitors a year. The municipality aims to seize the momentum by better facilitating the flow of tourists by enabling better experiences and better products, to make sure that the tourists return. We want to promote Prishtina properly” said Yll Rugova, Director of Youth and Culture at the Municipality of Prishtina.
