Kosovo’s Tourism Offers Reach the Japanese Market

Information about Kosovo as a promising new tourism destination is being exhibited for the Japanese market. Three tour operators and the Kosovo Alternative Tourism Association join as exhibitors the annual Tourism Expo Japan on 21 – 24 September 2017.

In May, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan revised the travel advisory, rating Kosovo as a safe destination to visit. “We need to present Kosovo to the Japanese audience and tourism is an effective way to promote more cooperation as well as a precursor to investments from Japan,” says Leon Malazogu, Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo in Tokyo. The number of Japanese tourists has increased steadily in recent years.

For Baki Hoti, President of KATA, participation at the TEJ, one of the world’s largest tourism promotion trade fairs, provides a unique opportunity to learn what tourists from this part of the world want to visit and experience, and tailor the offers accordingly.

In the first two days of the Tourism Expo Japan fair, tour operators, buyers and sellers will exchange information and offers during a series of B2B meetings. The other two days of the fair follow the B2C format, where sellers present their offers to the potential Japanese tourists.

The SDC Promoting Private Sector Employment project that is implemented by Swisscontact, is partly supporting the participation of Kosovo companies at the TEJ fair.
