Ko’Nuts, the first Kosovo hazelnut and walnut processing factory, opened with full-fledged production on 15 June 2017.
The Ko’Nuts factory, which is also the first of its kind in the region, is a huge step towards further developing the hazelnut and walnut value chain by expanding the network of plantations, reducing imports, meeting local demand, placing Kosovo on the map of exporting countries, and creating new sustainable jobs.
The Ko’nuts co-founder Betim Selmanaj said their goal is to keep expanding and become a leader. “Our projections for increased income within the first year of operations is translated into new jobs,” he said.
Ko’Nuts brand and modern packaging will further promote local products and encourage consumers to buy local. With support from PPSE, at least 18 new full time jobs, of which 11 for women and more than 50 new seasonal jobs will be created.
